CIRS Celebrates 25 Years with Community Time Capsule
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, CIRS of the Rainbow Beach Community Hall is inviting all residents and community groups to contribute to a Community Time Capsule.
Jed Elmer, CIRS President
The Community Information Resource Service (CIRS), is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year!
To honour this major milestone and capture the unique spirit of our beachside village, CIRS of the Rainbow Beach Community Hall is inviting all residents and community groups to contribute to a Community Time Capsule.
The capsule will be officially sealed during the anniversary event on Sunday 7 December 2025 and placed on-site, set to be opened in the year 2050.
The event runs from 2pm to 4pm, featuring local speakers, historical photos, live music and family activities, with light refreshments available through until 7pm.
CIRS encourages everyone - whether representing a local group, a family, or an individual - to help capture the enduring memory of life, times, and experiences in Rainbow Beach today. They are seeking personal contributions and mementos that speak to the present moment.
Items encouraged include handwritten letters to future generations, current photographs of local life or family, or small, non-perishable mementos (like newspaper clippings or personalised postcards). All submissions must be clearly labelled with your full name and be no larger or thicker than a standard A4 page.
Contributions can be brought directly to the anniversary event on 7 December. If you cannot attend, submissions can be dropped off at the Rainbow Beach Community Hall office no later than Friday 5 December 2025.
This is a wonderful opportunity to bridge the decades and provide the residents of 2050 with a genuine snapshot of our vibrant town today. For any queries, please contact CIRS at rainbowcommunitycirs@gmail.com or call 0434 057 356.
This project received funding assistance from the Gympie Regional Council's Community Grants Program 2025/2026.
