With Spring Comes Something New: Rainbow Cares Get a Bus!
Spring is here, and just like the blooming wildflowers, new projects are sprouting at Rainbow Cares, including one that’s sure to bring a smile to many familiar faces around the Cooloola Coast Area.
The phone rang… “We’ve got a bus!”
Yes, Rainbow Cares now has its very own community transport. This dedicated vehicle will make it easier, safer, and more comfortable for our elderly locals to get out and about.
“Our service has always aimed to help seniors stay in their own homes and feel connected to their community,” said Tamara Emms, RBCC Care Coordinator.
“Now, we can do even more. The idea came since our clients would ask how they could get to things like expos, quilt shows and to places like the Men's Shed.
Through this investment we can finally take them there: walkers, wheelies and all”.
With the new bus, the Rainbow Cares team can organise group outings and offer more opportunities for fun and connection, whether it’s a trip to shops, a local event, or simply a drive for a cuppa and a change of scenery.
To celebrate, last month the team launched on social media a ‘Name the Bus’ competition, and the winning name will be revealed in next month’s paper.
In the meantime, the office is working on a monthly calendar of activities and outings, helping seniors and carers plan ahead and make the most of what’s on.
If you see the Rainbow Cares bus out on the road give them a wave!
