Tin Can Bay P&C News June 2026
Community Support Helping Big Things Happen at Tin Can Bay School
Jess Milne, President, Tin Can Bay P-10 State School P&C
There’s plenty happening around Tin Can Bay P&C Association at the moment, with local community support continuing to make a real difference for students and families.
One of the biggest priorities for the P&C is helping make school experiences more affordable for local families.
This term, the P&C has contributed $500 towards the Year 3/4 excursion to the Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum as part of their HASS studies, along with $2,000 to support the Prep to Year 2 trip to Australia Zoo.
Fundraising efforts are now turning towards the school disco on Wednesday 10 June, which is always a highlight on the student calendar. The Wear Your PJ’s theme should make for a fun and cosy night as the cooler weather sets in.
The P&C is also preparing for Athletics Day, where volunteers will once again be cooking up a BBQ across both days of events. A few extra helping hands would be greatly appreciated so parents can rotate through breaks and still spend time cheering on their children.
Anyone interested in helping can email pandc@tincanbaytcbss.eq.edu.au.
Behind the scenes, work is continuing on projects aimed at improving the school grounds for future students and families. The oval bank revegetation project is still seeking donations of unused free native trees available through January Gympie Regional Council rates notices.
Community members can easily donate their trees through Cooloola City Farm Nursery by emailing president@ccfn.org.au and nominating Project FT2026.001 – School Oval Bank Planting or popping into the nursery with your rates notice.
The front fence replacement project is also gaining wonderful local support. The P&C would like to sincerely thank TCB Builders, Earth First Electrical, The Chandlery Bait and Tackle, Total Movement Studio, Clare Real Estate, Tin Can Bay Lions, and Cooloola Curtains and Blinds for sponsoring fence posts and panels. Additional sponsorship support is still welcomed.
Families can also support the P&C all year round through Containers for Change using code C10192130.
The next P&C meeting will be held on Monday 15 June at 3pm in the school library. Everyone is welcome to come along, hear what’s happening and get involved in supporting the school community.
