The countdown is over for one of the Cooloola Coast’s most loved events, the 2026 Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic & Expo - it’s finally here!

Each year the Classic reels in thousands of visitors, competitors, and spectators for a week packed with fishing, entertainment and community spirit.

Whether you are a seasoned angler chasing the big one or simply looking for family-friendly fun, the Fishing Classic always has something for everyone.

Competitors enjoy fishing across some of the region’s most spectacular waterways and beaches, with plenty of prizes, lucky draws, and giveaways up for grabs throughout the event.

But the Classic is about far more than fishing. Families can enjoy live entertainment, activities for the kids, food stalls, nightly festivities, and the relaxed atmosphere that has made the event a favourite on the Queensland calendar for decades.

Rainbow Beach itself provides the perfect backdrop, with stunning coastal scenery, great camping spots and easy access to Fraser Island (K’gari), Inskip Point and the Great Sandy Strait. 

Local businesses, volunteers, and community groups all come together to help create an event that keeps people returning year after year.

The Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic continues to showcase everything locals love about the region: community spirit, outdoor adventure and good old-fashioned family fun.
