Keishia Duffy, Biodiversity Program Officer, Ecologist & Environmental Scientist, Cooloola Coastcare
Cooloola Coastcare is looking for new participants for our Urban Wildlife program, ‘The COOLoola Critter Cam’.
This community-based project invites local landholders to take part in biodiversity monitoring from their own backyards, helping us better understand which species are using urban areas across the Cooloola Coast.
Wildlife cameras are installed on participating properties for a short monitoring period, and participants receive a mini site report along with copies of any wildlife images captured during monitoring.
So far, we have recorded 52 species, including birds, mammals, and reptiles. From possums and birds to reptiles, the project is revealing just how much wildlife is living alongside us, often unnoticed.
We are particularly interested in learning more about how wildlife moves through residential areas, what habitat features species are using, and how urban properties can better support biodiversity.
If you live on the Cooloola Coast and would like to be involved, please contact Keishia Duffy at keishia.duffy@cooloolacoastcare.org.au.
