Sunday 12 April marked the first soft opening of Prime Tide Bar & Grill Restaurant, drawing a full house for a Thai-themed evening that set the tone for what is to come.

The event, delivered in collaboration with a guest chef, offered a curated menu and an atmosphere that felt both intimate and elevated, signalling strong local interest from the outset.

The experience was complemented by a selection of locally crafted beers from Double Island Brewing, reinforcing the venue’s commitment to regional quality and collaboration.

So, was this the official opening? Not quite.

At this stage, Prime Tide is intentionally adopting a selective approach, operating through a series of special event nights rather than a traditional full-time model.

This decision reflects a considered response to the current economic climate and the unique dynamics of a small coastal town like Rainbow Beach, where balance between businesses remains essential.

The team behind Prime Tide, already established through a successful local venture, is focused on creating experiences that complement rather than compete.

The concept centres on curated pop-up dining events, featuring guest and visiting chefs, themed cuisines, and pre-booked evenings with a fixed guest capacity, designed to offer something distinctive to both locals and visitors.

The sold-out Thai night demonstrated the potential of this model, not only as a culinary offering but as a scalable and adaptable business concept. With strong community engagement and a clear vision, Prime Tide positions itself as both a creative hospitality project and a considered opportunity for future growth and investment.
